Factory Crew Management Software

Streamline data reporting when your employees work in groups.

The ShopVue MES Teams add-on simplifies data collection when multiple employees work together as a group or crew. Only one person reports the machine’s production, yet the system automatically accumulates labor time for all the other members based upon the fact they have joined the machine. The system spares other members from needing to report more detailed information such as order numbers, operation numbers or quantities scrapped by reason code.

Teams is ideal for resources manned by multiple workers such as large machines, cells, paint lines, packaging lines and assembly stations. Imagine the simplicity of a second shift crew simply “joining” the collection of orders already running on a large heat treat line.

With Teams, you can:

  • Ensure users spend less time reporting data and more time working.
  • Train new hires more easily.
  • Spend less time correcting labor reporting errors.
  • Capture more direct labor costs.
  • Enjoy faster overall system performance.

The Teams add-on supports labor time collection in a variety of scenarios in which multiple workers tend one or more large resources.

Scenario A

  • A primary operator and two helpers tend a large machine.
  • A job running from 7:00 to 10:00 accumulates nine hours of labor.

Scenario B

  • Two operators each tend their lines with a helper moving between to palletize output.
  • A job running from 7:00 to 10:00 on the first machine accumulates 4.5 hours of labor.

Scenario C

  • Two operators share responsibility for three machines in a cell.
  • Each of the three jobs running from 7:00 to 10:00 accumulate two hours of labor.

Ad Hoc Management

Unlike ShopVue’s earlier generation Crew function or competitive offerings, the Teams add-on does not require you to decide upfront whether a machine or assembly bench is staffed by a crew or individual. Also, with Teams, anyone can report the labor; no special crew badges are required.

Teams are formed on an ad hoc basis. For example, during a busy period, several employees may help out on a machine typically staffed by only one operator. These helpers form an ad hoc team simply by joining the machine. Members can leave as the work effort winds down.

Slush Time

Team member time is automatically charged to an indirect account if the resource is down or otherwise inactive.

Supervisor Time Apportionment

Supervisors, inspectors, or other managers can join at any level of your factory’s hierarchy: machine, work center, or department. An inspector who joins the department between 8:00 and 11:00 a.m. would have these three hours automatically apportioned to all of the jobs that were running in the department during that time interval.

Dozens of jobs will each get a small slice of the three hours---a job that ran from just 10:00 to 11:00 would get less than one running the entire time. You’ll be able to capture more labor as direct cost and charge your customers accordingly.

Shared Efficiency

Teams solves the problem of who gets the credit when a job spans a shift change and it is impractical for the first shift operator to specify yield or percentage complete. ShopVue calculates efficiency once for the job. Online inquiries and other labor reports that focus on individual efficiency will show the shared value.
