bulletPaperless Dispatch with The Graphical Sequencer

Paperless Dispatch represents a major step towards a fully paperless, order-driven operation. By providing managers with a graphical tool to dispatch work and track work in process, ShopVue becomes your real time factory dashboard. Today’s progressive factory managers know that collecting data is just the beginning. Using that data to effectively manage operations and provide Operator feedback creates an informed and empowered workforce that is more efficient.

The use of touch screens really brings this module to life. Operators can see their work assignments on graphical touch screens located throughout the plant. Rather than scanning a bar-coded traveler, they select work from their on-screen Ready List or Dispatch List where they have access to the entire routing if necessary and can see what’s coming next on the Ready List. They can even view work instructions, drawings and diagrams on the screen. ShopVue directs workers and guides them throughout their day to minimize downtime.

Graphical Sequencer

Most ERP systems are not designed to manage manufacturing operations at a detailed, day-to-day level. The Graphical Sequencer is a revolutionary new tool that supplements your ERP/MRP system. Driven by real-time data collection, it offers planners and supervisors a drag-and-drop interface that is used to micro-schedule people, machines and the orders they will run. The result is a schedule depicted on an “Electronic Whiteboard” that shop personnel can truly support.

The Graphical Sequencer is not just a plan of what’s coming up that is occasionally updated. It is a “live” panorama of the past, present and future. Because it’s Operator-Driven, it is continually refreshed each time a job begins or ends. You can see a graphical representation of every load as it weaves its way through the factory.

HOW IT OPERATES

Most Graphical Sequencer operations are automatic. In fact, if your ERP system were perfect there would be nothing to do other than occasionally review the plan and approve it.

Graphical Dispatcher

Major steps - in the real world - include:

  1. The automatic download of new work orders from your ERP system
  2. The creation of a Gantt Chart-style schedule for each machine. Your planners fine-tune the schedule using a simple drag/ drop interface. In this case, Job B that is red (hot) might be dragged ahead of Job C
  3. Harry, the Operator assigned to Machine #1 goes to a touch screen, accepts his “electronic assignments” by pressing the Start button.
  4. When Harry Finishes, the system automatically calculates actual labor time and sends this and a status update back to the ERP System. The Work Order is automatically queued up on the next machine indicated on the routing.

Paperless Dispatch for Supervisors:

  • Fine tune production schedule planned by ERP system
  • Dispatch work assignments to Operators and machines they will run
  • Track Work in Process and monitor production
  • Prioritize work center queues
  • Track work order status in real time

Paperless Dispatch for Operators:

  • View a ready list of shop orders, or Dispatch List on MyShopActivity
  • See the entire routing with full detail of each step
  • Dynamically display instructions and pictures online
  • Ensure quantity validation between operations
  • Provide cumulative quantity validation for Operations

Are you ready to see the software in action?
