Minimum Requirements for ShopVue Servers and Clients

ShopVue Server Requirements

Most of our customers host both the ShopVue application and Microsoft SQL database on their own server, either physical or virtual. When necessary, we can help you select a server or sell you a server as part of your ShopVue system. Otherwise, use the following minimum requirements as a guideline when provisioning a server to run ShopVue.

Notes

ShopVue is intended to run as your shop floor system 24-7 and to provide real-time status and feedback. In order for ShopVue to function as intended you will need to meet or exceed our minimum requirements.

  • The above does NOT include SQL or tape media.
  •  Disk IO is almost always the bottleneck on a SQL Server (as opposed to processor or memory). High-end SCSI or SATA drives are strongly recommended.
  •  Redundant Power supplies are recommended for all servers.

ShopVue Client PC Requirements

There are two ShopVue applications that run on PCs or other devices in managers' offices and around the factory. You may choose to run these applications either as traditional "thick client" apps that are installed on the device's local hard drive or via a remote session (the application runs on the server). The following requirements are for running the application on the local hard drive without a remote desktop connection.

  • The Management Client runs on computers in managers' offices or at supervisors' stations around the factory.
  • The Console runs on terminals around the factory.
