The ShopVue-Dynamics GP interface (svGP) allows you to “front-end” your GP system with a state-of-the-art MES Software system for Microsoft Dynamics GP providing shop floor data collection and total control of your plant.
The svGP interface automatically downloads from GP the necessary information for accurate data collection, order tracking and efficiency reporting. At the end of shift (after supervisor approval), svGP uploads operator information like direct labor hours and quantities produced and scrapped to GP.
Ultimately, the svGP interface enables GP to display your updated order status, actual labor, and production quantities.
Validation and Error Handling
ShopVue uses Production Order information from GP to interactively validate each Operator entry. For example, if ShopVue knows a standard in GP is 100 pieces per hour, ShopVue can warn an Operator if she attempts to report a quantity that is less than X percentage (user-defined) of this standard.
The svGP interface validates these entries again when it updates GP through it’s Automatic Data Collection (ADC) interface. In the unlikely event that an error “slips through”, svGP returns the error to ShopVue for correction and automatic reposting. svGP can also send automatic email alerts if the ADC is either down or an error has been detected.
With the svGP interface, you can release Production Orders from different GP companies into the appropriate instance of ShopVue. ShopVue Operators and Supervisors don’t have to worry about “charging work to the right company”. The svGP interface automatically applies labor transactions to the correct company when exported back to GP.
The Changes Only feature ensures ShopVue will only download new orders and changes to existing orders, limiting network traffic and speeding download time. Seconds after planners input that new "hot job" into GP, Operators can begin working ont the job in ShopVue.
ShopVue-GP interactions happen automatically at frequent intervals. If either system is temporarily unavailable, the svGP interface queues transactions until a connection is reestablished.
Cross System Activity Summary Report
In addition to standard ShopVue interface error reports, svGP includes a cross system Activity Summary Report to validate that the two systems are in synch. This report reaches into both ShopVue and GP to compare actual activity reported in ShopVue along with the resulting GP time entries.
