The ShopVue-PointMan interface (svPointMan) allows you to “front-end” your PointMan system with a state-of-the-art shop floor data collection software system.
The svPointMan interface automatically downloads from PointMan the necessary information for accurate shop floor data collection, order tracking and efficiency reporting. Soon after Operators report transactions on the shop floor, svPointMan uploads information like materials consumed and direct labor charges to PointMan.
Ultimately, the svPointMan interface enables PointMan to display your updated order status, additional actual labor, materials consumed and transfers to finished goods inventory.
Validation and Error Handling
ShopVue uses Production Order information from PointMan to interactively validate each Operator entry. For example, if ShopVue knows a standard in PointMan is 100 pieces per hour, ShopVue can warn an Operator if she attempts to report a quantity that is less than X percentage (user-defined) of this standard.
The svPointMan interface validates these entries again when it updates PointMan through its ShopVue Floor Production Feedback API. In the unlikely event that an error “slips through”, svPointMan returns the error to ShopVue for correction and automatic reposting.
Multi-Business Segment Support
With the svPointMan interface, you can release Production Orders from different PointMan business segments into the appropriate instance of ShopVue. ShopVue Operators and Supervisors don’t have to worry about “charging work to the right business”. The svPointMan interface automatically applies labor and material transactions to the correct business segment when exported back to PointMan.
The Changes Only feature ensures ShopVue will only download new orders and changes to existing orders, limiting network traffic and speeding download time. Seconds after planners input that new "hot job" into PointMan, Operators can begin working on the job in ShopVue.
ShopVue-PointMan interactions happen automatically at frequent intervals. If either system is temporarily unavailable, the svPointMan interface queues transactions until a connection is reestablished.
Corrections in ShopVue with Automatic Delta Logic
Supervisors can make corrections to operator transactions in one place – ShopVue. svPointMan uses delta logic along with its export history to transmit the correction to PointMan to keep the two systems in synch.
Multiple Releases of an Order
A setting in ShopVue allows multiple releases of an order from PointMan to be treated as a unique ShopVue order. With this setting svPointMan then sends shop floor feed back to the specific release in PointMan.
svPointMan can respect operation paypoints defined in PointMan to only transmit activity against paypoint operations. This means you can use ShopVue to collect actual labor against all operations, however let PointMan apply standard backflushing to non paypoint operations as needed.
